Design Development

Design Development involves refining the approved schematic design. Drawings are expanded and details added, including interior elevations, wall sections, materials, finishes, doors & windows and ceiling plans. Some projects require a materials board specifying finishes, materials and colors.

During the Design Development process, we’ll share our drawings and designs with consultants specializing in acoustics, media, theater, pools and other disciplines. In addition, we’ll flesh out any sustainable design strategies we plan to implement. For public projects, this will be the time for a new round of cost estimates to make sure the project remains on budget. For private developments, we’ll touch base with your contractor to fine tune project details. For education projects, we’ll touch base with officials regarding code analysis and relevant design criteria.
